Fried Green Tomatoes
Ingredients
- 4 large firm green tomatoes
- Salt
- 2 C. vegetable oil
- 1 C. buttermilk
- 1 C. self-rising flour
- 1 C. self-rising cornmeal mix
Directions
Slice the tomatoes 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick (your preference). Sprinkle each slice with salt and leave alone for about 20 minutes in a colander. In a skillet heat oil over medium. Mix flour and cornmeal together. Then dip tomatoes into the buttermilk and then into the flour mixture and fry until golden brown.
