  • 10 button mushrooms
  • 2 C vegetable oil, to fry mushrooms in
  • ¼ C red cooking wine
  • 2 tsp water
  • ½ C flour
  • ¾ tsp garlic, minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 T parmesan cheese
  • 1 tsp oregano

First, heat oil in a deep skillet to 350 degrees. In a mixing bowl, mix together flour, water, wine, oregano, salt, and pepper, whisking until smooth. DIp the mushrooms into the batter and fry for about five minutes, or until coating is crispy and golden brown. After mushrooms have finished cooking, place fried mushrooms on a paper towel to absorb excess oil. Garnish with Parmesan cheese and serve.
