These are brownie-like cookies that have a crispy outside and gooey middle.

  • 1 12 oz. pkg. semisweet chocolate pieces
  • 2 oz. unsweetened chocolate chopped
  • 2 Tbs. butter or margarine
  • 2 eggs
  • 2/3 C. sugar
  • 1/4 C. all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/4 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 C. chopped nuts

Grease a cookie sheet. Set aside. In a heavy medium saucepan combine 1 C. of chocolate pieces, the unsweetened chocolate and butter. Cook and stir over medium-low heat till melted. Remove from heat. Add the eggs, sugar, flour, vanilla, and baking powder. Beat till combined, scraping sides of pan occasionally. Stir in the remaining chocolate pieces and the nuts.

Drop dough by a rounded teaspoon about 2 inches apart onto prepared cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 8-10 minutes or till edges are firm and surfaces are dull and slightly cracked. Transfer to a rack and cool.

Yield: about 36 cookies
