Fudge-Topped Brownies
Ingredients
- 1 C. butter
- 4 oz. unsweetened chocolate
- 2 C. sugar
- 2 tsp. vanilla
- 4 eggs
- 1 1/2 C. flour
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 C. chopped walnuts
- Topping:
- 4 1/2 C. sugar
- 12 oz. evaporated milk
- 1/2 C. butter
- 12 oz. semisweet chocolate chips
- 11 1/2 oz. milk chocolate chips
- 7 oz. marshmallow cream
- 2 tsp. vanilla
- 2 C. chopped walnuts

In a saucepan over low heat, melt butter and chocolate. Remove from heat. Blend in sugar and vanilla. Beat in eggs. Combine flour, baking powder and salt; add to chocolate mixture. Stir in nuts. Pour into greased 13x9x2" baking pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 25-30 minutes or until top springs back. In a heavy saucepan, combine sugar, milk and butter. Bring to a boil over medium heat. Reduce heat. Simmer 5 minutes, stirring constantly. Remove from heat. Stir in chips, cream and vanilla; beat until smooth. Add nuts. Spread over warm brownies. Freeze until firm. Cut into 1" squares. Store in refrigerator.
