Garbage Can Casserole

This beef casserole tastes wonderful and is easy to make. It is called "garbage can casserole" because my husband said he wasn't going to eat "that garbage." He tried it and ate the whole thing.

Time needed

15 min preparation + 10 min cooking

Ingredients

  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 1/2 sm. onion, chopped
  • 1 can kernel corn, drained
  • 1 pkg. mashed potatoes
  • 1 pkg. shredded cheddar cheese

Directions

Brown beef and onions until done; drain. Drain corn and add to beef. Pour into 9x13-inch casserole dish. Make mashed potatoes according to package directions. Spread over mixture and pour shredded cheese on top. Heat at 350 degrees until cheese is melted, about 10 minutes.

  • I think this was creative!!! Wasn't sure how it would taste. Great casserole for 6 will make again and again. Creative name but Definitely does not have a "garbage" taste!!.
