Golden Bacon Corn Bread

This is the absolute best corn bread recipe out there. Bacon makes everything taste better, and it's the secret ingredient in this dish!

  • 3/4 C. yellow corn meal
  • 1 C. milk
  • 1 C. dairy sour cream
  • 1 C. all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp. soda
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 C. sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 4 slices crisp bacon, crumbled

Blend corn meal, milk and sour cream together. Set aside for 30 minutes. Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Sift together other dry ingredients. Beat egg lightly and add to corn meal mixture. Blend in dry ingredients and beat until just smooth. Add bacon, pour into greased preheated 9-inch square pan. Bake in oven for 15-20 minutes. Serve hot with butter.

  • Can't wait to try this one. I wonder if it would be good for the "mexican" cornbread that you layer and add cooked ground beef and cheese in the middle.
