  • 2½ lbs ground beef
  • 1 bell pepper, diced
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 1½ cups ketchup
  • 6 gloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon dry mustard
  • ¼ teaspoons red pepper flakes
  • 3 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 4 teaspoons hot sauce like Cholula
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • 8 buns

In a large pot, brown the beef over medium heat. Drain the fat off using the lid or in a strainer. Add the green peppers and onions. Mix well and then add 1 cup water, ketchup and garlic. While mixing, start adding the sugar, chili powder, dry mustard, red pepper flakes, hot sauce and Worcestershire sauce. Add salt and pepper to taste. Stir well, cover and let simmer over medium-low heat for about 20 minutes. When ready to serve, warm up the buns on a skillet by spreading a little butter on the buns. Scoop the meat onto the bun and enjoy.
