Gramma's Coffee Cake

Gramma used this easy to make coffee cake recipe for visits from the reverend back in 19th century Missouri. I'm sure my mother updated it with ingredients that were easier to get at the local grocery! This was traced back to 1860, the original is too soiled to read anymore.

  • Thank you for sharing the recipe and memories of your grand mom. I do that for buttermilk myself too. This recipe is a keeper for me, very good and so easy as well. Thank your mom as well.

  • When a recipe asked for buttermilk and you have none - you can add the 2 tbls vinegar to cup of milk to suffice. No one can tell the difference.
