Grandma's Bohemian Sauerkraut

This was one of the first recipes I learned from my Grandmother, and we still enjoy it today.

Ingredients

  • 1 large jar sauerkraut
  • 1 lg. onion, chopped
  • 2-3 Tbs. flour
  • 2-3 Tbs. butter

Directions

 Brown the onions in butter until browned.  Add the flour to thicken and continue to brown.  Add sauerkraut juice to the onion mixture and reduce until a roux is formed.  Add the sauerkraut and any water needed to cover the sauerkraut.  Cook until the sauerkraut is heated through.
