Granny's Blackberry Cobbler

Ingredients
- 2 C. all-purpose flour
- 1/2 Tbs. sugar
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/2 C. cold shortening
- 5 Tbs. cold margarine
- 1/4 C. ice cold water
- 1 egg, beaten (use only half of it)
- 1/2 Tbs. vinegar
- 4 C. fresh or frozen blackberries (do not thaw frozen berries)
- 1 C. sugar
- 1/4 C. all-purpose flour
Directions
Combine flour, sugar, and salt. Cut in shortening and margarine until resembles coarse crumbs. Combine water, 1/2 of the beaten egg, and vinegar. Add to the flour mixture to form a ball. Cover and refrigerate 30 minutes. Roll 1/2 of the dough to cover bottom and side of a 9x9 baking dish.
Combine blackberries, sugar and flour. Pour into crust. Roll out remaining dough for top crust. Using a small star cookie cutter,cut 3 stars in dough.
Remove the dough stars and keep for top.Place crust on top of berries, crimp edges. Brush with milk. Add 3 dough stars randomly and sprinkle sugar over top crust.
Bake at 400 degrees for 15 minutes then reduce heat to 350 degrees. Bake an additional 45 minutes. Cool completely. Store any leftovers in the refrigerator.
