Green Tomato Cobbler

If you love fried green tomatoes, you are sure to love this cobbler. This green tomato cobbler is very tangy. This was something my poor grandmother made because it was inexpensive and she could pick the tomatoes right from her garden.

Prepare 3 cups sliced green tomatoes and mix with 1 cup sugar. Set oven to 350 degrees. Put 1 stick butter in a very deep baking dish or pan. Set in oven to melt. Stir up a batter of 1/2 cup sugar, 3/4 cup self-rising flour, and 3/4 cup milk. Pour this over melted butter; do not stir. Pour sugared sliced green tomatoes on top; do not stir. Bake in a moderate oven one hour. The batter will rise to the top and be brown and crisp.
