  • 16 butter lettuce leaves
  • 1 lb. lean ground beef
  • 1 Tbsp. cooking oil
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 1/3 C. hoisin sauce
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 Tbsp. soy sauce
  • 1 Tbsp. rice wine vinegar
  • 1 can water chestnuts, chopped
  • 1 bunch green onions, chopped
  • 2 tsp. sesame oil

Rinse the lettuce and pat dry gently. Meanwhile, heat a large skillet over medium high and cook the beef in oil until browned. Drain and put the meat in a bowl. Cook and stir the onion in the same skillet for about 5 minutes. Add the hoisin sauce, garlic, soy sauce, and vinegar to the onions. Put in the water chestnuts, green onions, sesame oil, and cooked beef. Stir and cook about 2 minutes. Put the meat on the lettuce leaves and tie them closed if desired.
