Don't go to Panera Bread for a panini. Make this easy one instead!

  • 4 Tbs. butter, softened
  • 8 slices firm white sandwich bread
  • 8 slices deli ham
  • 4 slices Italian fontina cheese, about 2 oz.

Butter one side of each piece of bread. Place one fourth each of ham and cheese between 2 unbuttered sides. Trim away excess ham and cheese. Form 4 sandwiches. Preheat a griddle or large cast-iron frying pan over medium-low heat. Grill sandwiches, turning once, 5-7 minutes, or until the cheese has melted and the bread is golden brown. Cut each sandwich into halves when serving.
