Ham Loaf with Cranberry Sauce

This ham and pork loaf is baked with bread crumbs and a sweet and festive cranberry sauce.

  • 1 C. milk
  • 1 C. soft bread crumbs (white)
  • 1 ½ lbs. cured ham, ground
  • 1 lb. freshly ground lean pork
  • 2 eggs, beaten

Scald the milk and pour it over bread crumbs.  Add to ham and pork and mix thoroughly until no bread crumbs show.  Add eggs and mix again.  Put into 9x5 inch loaf pan.  Then set loaf pan into shallow pan containing hot water at least 1 inch deep.  Bake at 375 degrees F. for 2 hours.  If loaf browns to much, cover meat with foil.  Pour off fat and excess juice; serve plain or with Cranberry Sauce (see below).

Cranberry Sauce


1 C. canned jellied cranberry sauce

¼ C. light corn syrup

¼ C. water

Whole berry cranberry sauce for garnish


Boil jellied cranberry sauce, corn syrup, and water until thick.  Cool; do not chill.  Pour over loaf before serving and put under broiler a few minutes.  Garnish platter with whole berry cranberry sauce.  Drain the berries if too juicy.
