  • I remember my grandmothers recipe for Beef Hash. She did not include potatoes in hers. She started off with an iron skillet with 2 or 3 cups of water. After it started to boil, she added salt, pepper and (chopped) onions. It was simmered until the onions were cooked tender, then the beef (it was also chopped into small pieces) was added. This was allowed to simmer for several minutes. The next thing added was a mixture of (flour mixed with cold water) to thicken it. This was allowed to simmer for 15 or 20 minutes. It was served over hot biscuits just taken out of the oven. It was great.
