Hawaiian Slaw

Copied from a dish from a Hawaiian Luau, this salad is unique and healthy and delicious!

Ingredients

  • 1/2 16 oz. bag cole slaw
  • 1 small red pepper, julienned
  • 6 green onions, cleaned and sliced
  • 1/2 C. macadamia nuts
  • 3 Tbs. sesame oil
  • 1 small can pineapple tidbits, reserve juice
  • Dressing:
  • 1/4 C. each sesame oil, soy sauce, rice vinegar
  • 2 Tbs. sugar
  • Reserved pineapple juice

Directions

Toast macadamias in 3 Tbs. sesame oil until golden. Cool and add to salad mixture. Make dressing, stirring until sugar is dissolved. Toss salad, pour dressing on, toss again and refirgerate 1 hour. Toss again and serve.

  • the hawaiian slaw sounds very good but being in the gluten free recipes is mis leading, soy sauce has gluten in it so people new to celiac disease ideas can have a very bad reaction to it. however there is a gluten free variety but should be mentioned in the recipe

  • Wow, a salad recipe I know I will love. It is fancier than what I usually do. I just use plain cabbage, sliced, not shredded and drizzle the following dressing over cabbabe.
    Dressing:

    For just me, I use a couple of tablespoons of concentrated orange juice right from the frozen can and some real mayonaise and thin with a little pineapple juice....... YUMMMM. Try it, you'll like it. This goes great with spareribs.
