Trim and discard excess fat from ribs.  Put meat in an 8 qt. pan and add water to barely cover.  Cover and bring to boil over high heat; reduce heat and boil gently for 20 minutes. Drain ribs and arrange in an 11 X 13 inch pan. Cook the ribs at 375 degrees for about 40 minutes. Meanwhile, in a saucepan combine the cherry preserves, vinegar, corn syrup, and spices. Cook and stir until boiling. Reduce heat; simmer two minutes. Stir in almonds. Remove from heat. Set aside 3/4 C. of the glaze. About 15 minutes before the ribs are done, spoon some of the remaining glaze over the ribs, basting occasionally. Remove from oven; place on a heated serving platter. Stir the water into the reserved 3/4 C. glaze; heat and serve along with the ribs.
