  • 2 (15.5 oz./each) cans black beans
  • 1 C. dried breadcrumbs
  • ¼ C. corn
  • 2 large eggs, lightly beaten
  • 1 tsp. garlic salt
  • 1 tsp. black pepper
  • 1 Tbs. cilantro, chopped
  • 1 tsp. red pepper flakes
  • 3 Tbs. olive oil
  • 6 hamburger buns
  • Optional Toppings
  • Tomato
  • Lettuce
  • Onion
  • Ketchup
  • Mustard
  • Cheese

Drain 1 can of the beans and save the liquid. Mash beans in a medium bowl. Drain the second can of beans and add to mixing bowl along with breadcrumbs, eggs, pepper, garlic salt, cilantro and red pepper flakes. Stir together until well mixed. If necessary, add some of the bean liquid to mixture if needed to hold together. Make sure the mixture is not wet. Divide into 6 even patties.

Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the patties and cook for 3 minutes per side. Outside of the burger should be crispy. Remove the burgers and place on hamburger buns. Top with desired ingredients and serve.
