  • 3 lb. beef chuck roast, trimmed of excess fat
  • 1 T. olive oil
  • 1/3 C. low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 C. cola (not diet)
  • 2 10.5-oz. cans beef consommé (or beef broth)
  • 1/4 C. dry minced onions
  • 1 T. beef bouillon
  • 1 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp. onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp. dried oregano
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper
  • 1/4 tsp. thyme
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 12 slices provolone cheese
  • 6 French rolls, split

In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Use tongs to carefully sear each side of the roast until brown. Transfer to your crock pot and add all remaining ingredients except the cheese and french rolls. Cover and cook on low for four hours. Place roast on a cutting board and thinly slice against the grain. Return meat to crock pot and cook for another hour. Preheat your oven to 350°F. Line the bottom of a large baking try with the split french rolls. Top one half of each with beef and two slices of cheese. Bake until cheese has melted. Top with other toasted bun and serve with the crock pot juices.
