My grandmother handed this recipe down to my mother and then to me.

  • 1 lg. head of cabbage
  • 2 lbs. hamburger
  • 1 lb. ground salt pork
  • 1 can tomato soup
  • garlic salt to taste
  • 2 C. minute rice
  • 1 can tomatoes

Boil cabbage in large pot utill fork goes through center.   Place cabbage in strainer to cool.  Cut up salt pork in frying pan, and cook on low heat to collect juice. Add water as needed so it does not burn. Set aside in bowl and add hamburger, ground pork, tomatoe soup, rice and dash of garlic salt. Add half of the juice from salt pork and mix well. Cut core out of cabbage and separate leaves. Fill leaves with mixture utill all is gone. Place in oven safe square pan and pour rest of salt pork over it with the can of tomatoes. Bake 350 degrees for 1 hour and enjoy.
