Herbal Cheese Biscuits

This recipe adds oregano and basil to these regular biscuits.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 C. grated cheddar cheese
  • 2 C. all purpose flour
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 3 Tbs. shortening
  • 1/2 tsp. dried oregano
  • 1/2 tsp. dried basil
  • 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 3/4-1 C. buttermilk

Directions

Combine the flour, salt, soda and baking powder. Cut in shortening with a pastry cutter or your fingers. Add the cheese, herbs and the buttermilk to make a soft dough. Drop by tablespoon on to a cookie sheet. Bake at 400 degrees for 10-15 minutes.

Yield: 12-16 biscuitsĀ
