Herbed French Bread with Crisp Parmesan Crust
Serving Size / Yield
- 1 1/3 C. water
- 1 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 1/2 tsp. sugar
- 1 Tbs. plus 2 tsp. extra virgin olive oil
- 3 1/2 C. bread flour
- 1 Tbs. chopped fresh herbs (i.e. rosemary or thyme)
- 1 tsp. yeast (active dry, quick-rise or bread machine)
- 2 Tbs. grated Parmesan cheese
Note: This recipe is designed for the EmerilWare Bread Maker!
Place water, salt, sugar and all but one tablespoon of the olive oil in the bread pan. Add half of the flour, sprinkle with the herbs, then add remaining flour. Sprinkle yeast over top and initiate Program 2.
When dough has finished rising, brush top with remaining tablespoon of olive oil and sprinkle the Parmesan cheese evenly over the top. Close breadmaker lid and allow program to complete baking.
