When I first met my now husband, he made me this dinner. I couldn't believe the name and didn't know what to expect! But, as easy as it is, and after 17 years, it is still one of my favorites Enjoy!

Time needed

10 min preparation + 1 hour cooking

Serving Size / Yield

1-10 serving

  • 1 lg. hamburger for each person (I use 80/20 so there's more juice)
  • depending on how many people 1 med. onion, sliced thin
  • depending on the amount of people, 1or more thinly sliced potatoes
  • pepper, to taste
  • butter

With heavy duty foil (or two pieces together of regular foil), place burger in center. Special hint: I use my knuckle and put it in the center of the burger; don't go all the way through. This prevents the burger from bulking up and helps to keep it flat!  Arrange potatoes and onion all around the burger. Add pepper to taste. Add a very large pat of butter on top. (I know, it's a lot of butter but you'll thank me later!) Fold from top to bottom creating a tent-like shape. Seal very well. Fold over each sides, also sealing very well so juices don't run out. Place on cookie sheet. Cook at 400 degrees for 1 hour. Take off of cookie sheet and place on plate. Serve and let the person open it to see their surprise! (Be careful when opening- it's hot)! Great on a cold day or whenever the urge gets you!  Enjoy!
