  • 5 Tbs. butter, softened (unsalted)
  • 1/2 C. sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 C. whole milk, divided
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 1 C. all-purpose flour
  • 2 C. confectionery sugar
  • 1 tsp. almond extract
  • For the coating:
  • 2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/2 C. powdered sugar

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Lightly oil a doughnut pan. In a mixer combine butter, sugar, egg, 1/2 cup milk, and vanilla extract. The dough should look lumpy. Add salt and baking powder. Slowly add the flour and cocoa. Continue mixing until combined. Fill the tins halfway with batter. Bake for 10 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Pour powdered sugar and cinnamon in a paper bag. Add warm doughnuts to the bag and shake to coat. Remove from bag and allow doughnuts to cool before eating.
