This combination of crab cakes and mashed potatoes is the perfect family dinner. The potatoes are flavored with a hint of horseradish.

  • For the Crab Cakes:
  • 1 lb of lump crabmeat
  • 1⁄2 a cup of breadcrumbs
  • 2 eggs
  • 1⁄4 cup of mayonnaise
  • 1 teaspoon of seafood seasoning salt
  • 1⁄4 teaspoon of pepper
  • 2 tablespoons of Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon of dry mustard
  • For the mashed potatoes:
  • 5 potatoes, peeled and quartered
  • 2 tablespoons of butter, divided
  • ground black pepper to taste
  • 1/2 a cup of sour cream
  • 1 tablespoon of horseradish sauce
  • 2 teaspoons of minced parsley

For the crab cakes:
First, in a medium bowl, add the eggs, mayo, seafood seasoning, pepper, Worcestershire, and mustard. Mix everything together until they are creamy.
Next add the bread crumbs and mix evenly.
Add the crab meat, and make sure to mix evenly.
Then shape the mixture into cakes.
Sauté the cakes in a pan with a little oil for about 5 minutes on each side.
Serve them with a side of tartar sauce and lemon.
For the mashed potatoes:
First, bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
Then, add the potatoes to the pot and cook them until they are tender but still firm, about 15 minutes. Then drain and smash the potatoes with 1 tablespoon of butter and black pepper. Then stir in the sour cream, horseradish and parsley.
Melt the remaining 1 tablespoon of butter and pour it over the potatoes. Serve immediately.
