  • 2 cups canned chickpeas
  • ½ cup tahini
  • 3/4 cup olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon ground cumin
  • 2 cloves peeled garlic
  • 4 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 12 pita bread pockets
  • ½ teaspoon basil
  • ½ teaspoon pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic salt
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F. In a food processor, put the chickpeas, cumin, 1/4 cup oil, tahini, lemon juice, and garlic. Process until it is smooth. Season with salt and pepper and process for one more minute. Next, cut each pita bread into about 8 triangles. Place the cut pita bread on a lined baking sheet. Combine the ½ cup oil, pepper, garlic salt, and basil in a bowl and mix. Brush each pita triangle with the oil mixture. Bake for 6-7 minutes.
