For family gatherings this summer, get creative and serve homemade mint chocolate chip ice cream. This soft-serve dessert is better than any store bought brand, and an easy homemade alternative.

  • 2 C. sugar
  • 1 tsp. peppermint extract
  • 1 1/4 boxes vanilla instant pudding
  • 3 drops green food coloring
  • 1 gallon of milk
  • 1 C. miniature semisweet chocolate chips (add after ice cream begins to firm)

Mix the sugar, peppermint extract, instant pudding, and green food coloring together
Put the mixture in your ice cream maker's center container
Pour milk until it reaches the fill line near the top
Use a whisk to combine and dissolve all the dry ingredients
Add the ice cream maker's paddle in the container with the ingredients and put the lid on
Put the rest of your homemade ice cream maker together and add the ice and salt
After ice cream begins to firm (20 or 30 minutes), add the chocolate chips and wait until the ice cream maker turns off on its own
Serve your ice cream immediately
