  • 1 ½ C. half-and- half
  • ½ C. sugar
  • ½ T. vanilla extract
  • 4 egg yolks
  • 2 C. heavy cream
  • 3-4 candy canes, crushed

In a saucepan, heat up the half-and-half. While this is happening mix together the egg yolks and the sugar. Remove the half-and-half from the heat and pour it into the egg yolk mixture, mixing while you pour. Add the mixture to the stovetop once more and let it heat until it thickens. Pour this through a strainer and add in the vanilla extract, peppermint extract and the heavy cream. Once it is mixed, cover it up with plastic wrap and place it into the refrigerator over night. Pour the ice cream mixture into an ice cream maker for 5 minutes. Add in the crushed candy canes right before it hardens. Place it in the freezer for 4-6 hours and serve!
