These are my personal favorite flavor for potato chips. They taste greasy and salty, but with an oniony kick to them. Try this healthier, homemade version of them!

  • 3 large russet potatoes, scrubbed
  • ¼ cup kosher salt, plus extra
  • 3 tablespoons French onion soup mix
  • 1 tablespoon buttermilk powder
  • ¼ teaspoon sugar
  • ¼ cup canola oil

Preheat your oven to 450 degrees and line your baking sheet with wax or parchment paper. Thinly slice potatoes with a mandolin or a knife. Place the potato slices in a bowl of ice water. In a small bowl, mix together salt, sugar, soup mix, and butter milk powder. Have the canola oil in a separate bowl. After draining the ice bath and drying the potato slices with paper towels, dip each slice in the canola oil, and then in the spice mix. Line the dredged chips up on the baking sheet. Bake 7-8 minutes or until golden and dark around the edges. Serve with dip and enjoy!
