It is surprisingly easy to make your own delicious homemade strawberry fruit leather. When you make your own, you can rest assured that your family is eating only natural ingredients. There are no chemicals in this all natural version that you can make at home and it is 100% good for you and your kids.

  • 3 c. strawberries, hulled
  • 2 Tblsp. lemon juice
  • 1 Tblsp. chia seeds

Put the chia seeds and strawberries into the blender and blend until smooth. Pour into a pot and stir in the lemon juice.

Cook over low heat, stirring frequently, until the mixture begins to thicken and darken.

If you are using a dehydrator, spread the mixture on your fruit leather tray and dehydrate for about six hours or until dry.

If you are using the oven, spread the fruit puree on a Silpat. Heat your oven to 170° (or the lowest it will go) and bake the fruit leather for three hours or until dry to the touch.

To keep your fruity snack, spread a sheet of waxed paper or cling wrap over the sheet of dried fruit and then begin to roll from one end. You will have a nice rolled fruit snack with paper or plastic separating the layers to prevent them from sticking.
