Homemade Strawberry Fruit Leather
Serving Size / Yield
- 3 c. strawberries, hulled
- 2 Tblsp. lemon juice
- 1 Tblsp. chia seeds
Put the chia seeds and strawberries into the blender and blend until smooth. Pour into a pot and stir in the lemon juice.
Cook over low heat, stirring frequently, until the mixture begins to thicken and darken.
If you are using a dehydrator, spread the mixture on your fruit leather tray and dehydrate for about six hours or until dry.
If you are using the oven, spread the fruit puree on a Silpat. Heat your oven to 170° (or the lowest it will go) and bake the fruit leather for three hours or until dry to the touch.
To keep your fruity snack, spread a sheet of waxed paper or cling wrap over the sheet of dried fruit and then begin to roll from one end. You will have a nice rolled fruit snack with paper or plastic separating the layers to prevent them from sticking.
