Instead of buying sweetened almond, milk your own fresh every week! For all of you lactose intolerant folks or those who just want to cut out dairy, this can be incorporated into smoothies, desserts or lattes.

  • 3 cups of almonds
  • 6 cups of water
  • 3 tablespoons of honey
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla
  • Pinch of salt

Place the almonds n a large bowl filled with water and soak for least 12 hours. The next day, drain the excess water. Then transfer the almonds to a blender with six cups of water and blend on low for 30 seconds. Let the almond mixture rest for a moment then blend for an additional 30 seconds on high. Pour the mixture through a sieve or cheesecloth and strain the pulp. Rinse the blender, return milk once again and add the honey, vanilla, and salt. Blend milk until well combined and smooth.
