Coleslaw can be a boring side on its own. This recipe does not follow that rule. With hot sauce and ketchup as added ingredients, you'll be surprised at how much you'll love this dish.

  • 2/3 C apple cider vinegar
  • 1/2 C ketchup
  • 1/4 C sugar
  • 2 tsp. freshly ground black pepper
  • 2 tsp. hot sauce
  • 1 large head green cabbage, finely shredded
  • 1 large carrot, peeled and grated
  • 2/3 C sugar
  • 1/3 C kosher salt

Whisk together vinegar, ketchup, sugar, black pepper and hot sauce in small bowl.

Combine cabbage and carrot in a large bowl. Sprinkle with sugar and salt and combine. Let stand five minutes, then rinse under cold running water.

Pour dressing mixture over vegetables and toss so dressing is evenly spread throughout.
