  • ¼ C. hot water
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 1/3 C. sugar
  • ¾ C. milk
  • 1 ½ sticks butter, divided
  • 3 egg yolks
  • 1 T. orange zest
  • Dash salt
  • 4 C. flour
  • 1 ½ C. brown sugar
  • 1 ½ T. cinnamon
  • ¼ C. honey
  • 1 C. pecans

In a large bowl, combine hot water, yeast, and 1 teaspoon of your sugar. Cover and let sit for 10 minutes until foamy. Then add in milk, remaining sugar, egg yolks, ½ stick of butter, salt, flour and zest. Use an electric mixer to combine and then switch to a dough hook or knead with your hands for 5 minutes. Cover and let rise for about an hour. Roll out your dough into a rectangle shape, brush with ½ stick of butter, and sprinkle with ½ cup of brown sugar mixed with 1 tablespoon of cinnamon. Roll up your dough and slice it into 12 to 15 individual buns. Place in a baking dish and start working on the topping. In a medium saucepan, melt remaining ½ stick of butter and stir in 1 cup of brown sugar, ½ a tablespoon of cinnamon, and honey. Stir over low heat until well combined. Pour over buns and top with pecans. Bake for 30 minutes at 375 degrees and serve hot!
