How to Make Homemade Pizza Crust
Serving Size / Yield
- 2 1/4 teaspoons dry yeast
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 tablespoon melted shortening
- 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
- 4 cups flour (can use 2 cups wheat, 2 cups white)
- 1 1/2 cups warm water
First, sprinkle the yeast into 1/2 a cup of the warm water. In a large bowl, dissolve sugar and salt in the remaining cup of water. Add the shortening and yeast mixture. Slowly add flour, mixing well with a wooden spoon.
Turn the dough onto floured surface. Divide it into two balls. Let rest for a few minutes then work into pans. Top with toppings and bake 18-25 minutes (longer for more toppings) until golden brown at 350 degrees.
