Hungarian Applesauce Fruitcake

This Eastern European fruitcake is sweet! The directions aren't too difficult, so even a novice cook, could bake this!

20 min preparation + 60 min cooking

Ingredients

  • 1/2 C. butter
  • 1 C. sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 2 C. sifted flour
  • 2 tsp. soda
  • 1 1/2 C. applesauce
  • 1/4 tsp. ground cloves
  • 2 C. pecans
  • 1/2 C. chopped dates
  • 1 C. raisins
  • 1/2 C. candied chopped cherries
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon

Directions

Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Cream butter and sugar. Add egg. Blend in flour and soda, alternately with applesauce. Mix in fruits and nuts. Pour into a greased angel food cake pan. Bake for 1 hour.
