Ice Cream Crisp Layer Cake

This has been an all time favorite passed down for generations in our family. The ingredients are simple, preparation is relatively easy and this dessert has plenty of texture and taste bringing them back for more every time!

  • 1/2 gallon ice cream (flavor of your choice - we use french vanilla, try to buy the kind in the square box)
  • 1 stick margarine
  • 3 C. Rice Krispies cereal

Preheat oven to 300 degrees. Melt butter and stir into Rice Krispies to coat well Pour butter and cereal mixture onto baking sheet -- spread out as much as possible. Bake in oven until toasted brown (lightly toasted) - usually about 10-15 minutes. Let cool. Place half of cereal mixture in bottom of 13x9x1-inch bakign dish. Slice ice cream into thirds and place each slice on top of cereal mixture to cover like a layered cake. Place remaining half of cereal mixture over top of ice cream. Freeze until ready to serve.
