There is absolutely nothing better than a baked spaghetti casserole. The melted cheese on top just melts in your mouth.

Ingredients

  • 8 oz. box spaghetti
  • 1 jar of your favorite spaghetti sauce
  • 1 pkg. Mild Italian sausage
  • 1 lg. pkg. shredded Mozzarella cheese
  • 1 green pepper diced and sautéed
  • 1 medium onion diced and sautéed
  • 2 tsp. oregano

Directions

Brown sausage and drain off grease. Sauté green pepper and onion, mix into sausage, add oregano and spaghetti sauce, and set aside. Cook spaghetti noodles 2 minutes less than package directions say then drain water off spaghetti. Pour noodles into sauce/sausage mixture and add 1 C. of the Mozzarella cheese. Stir well and pour into a buttered 9"x13" baking dish. Spread rest of Mozzarella cheese on top and bake for 20 to 30 minutes at 350 degrees.

  • Can you tell me how many servings this recipe makes? I find many of the recipes here forget that.
    Thanks.

  • I am new to this site and see that I am really going to enjoy it. But as I printed a recipe, I got the recipe, plus all the comments. Is there a way to only print the recipe. Cartridges cost a lot of money.
Not knowing, I probably should have highlighted the recipe then printed. Will try next time.

  • This recipe sounds good, but the instructions are a little vague. Can anyone tell me what kind of sausage? Links or bulk? If using links do you add them whole or slice them? I thought I might squeeze the sausage out of the casing before cooking and crumble the meat up. Any suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks

  • Used 26 oz jar Ragu - 6 mild seasoned italian sausage links-16 oz. Mozzarrella cheese -turned out very tasty- family wants it again soon. (par boiled the sausage to reduce fat content -8 minutes before browning it) Serves 8-10

  • I also watch my calories and fat content, trying to loose weight, it is necessary to watch. Nice simple recipes and easy to make. Thanks

  • Denise: Excellent recipe. I have a similar recipe. I didn't even notice that you left out the size of spaghetti sauce and sausage. But then I tend to use common sense and added what I thought was the appropriate amount.

  • I am a diabetic also. I use Dreamfields Pasta and my family can't tell any difference. Dreamfields Pastas only have 5 carbs per serving. I'll be trying this recipe soon.

  • Fresh garlic is a "must" for this recipe. Why did you leave it out? If you don't like garlic then you don't like spaghetti sauce.

  • I agree with this comment. I would also like to see a calorie and fat content and also a carbohydrate count. I am a diabetic but my family is not so I like to try many recipes that we can all enjoy.
