Italian seasoning adds flair to an otherwise ordinary grilled cheese sandwich.

  • 4 slices Italian or Vienna bread (cut 1 inch thick) 4 slices provolone cheese Butter or margarine at room temperature 3/4 tsp. Italian seasoning 1/2 tsp. garlic powder 1 or 2 slices of deli ham (optional)

Cut a 3 to 4-inch pocket in each slice of bread. Place a slice of cheese in each pocket with ham if you are using it. Butter each side of the bread and sprinkle with the seasoning and garlic powder. Cook on a hot skillet (no more oil or butter) until golden brown on both sides.

Note: You can slice the bread thinner and use eight slices, making them like a regular grilled cheese too.
