Ingredients

  • ½ lb. ground beef
  • 1 (15-oz.) can pizza sauce
  • 4 oz. (1 cup) shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 12-inch loaf of French bread
  • ½ lb. bulk Italian pork sausage
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 1 egg

Directions

Combine ground beef, sausage, onion and egg in a large bowl. Mix and shape into 14- 16 balls, about 1-inch in diameter.
In skillet on medium heat, cook meatballs until browned, turning frequently. Drain the access fluid. Add the pizza sauce to the pan. Turn heat to low and cover. Let simmer 12 to 15 minutes or until meatballs are thoroughly cooked.
Slice bread loaf open, sandwich-style. Place 8 meatballs inside. Spoon sauce over meatballs. Sprinkle with mozzarella cheese.
