  • ! C sour cream
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 6 eggs
  • 3 C flour
  • 3 C sugar
  • ½ lb (2 sticks) butter
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

First, preheat oven to 350 degrees. Mix butter and shortening together and then gradually add sugar and eggs, beating them together as you go. Mix dry ingredients together and then add milk and vanilla. Mix flour, milk, and vanilla mixture with butter, shortening, and eggs to form a batter.

Pour the batter into a cake pan that has been coated with butter and flour. Bake cake for 1 hour, removing from oven after a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
