Make-Ahead Lasagna with Marinara Sauce

If you've got a busy day tomorrow, this is the perfect re-heat meal to make tonight! Lasagna is delicious long after it is already cooked, so whip it up, place it in the fridge, and re-heat it when your ready for dinner!

Serving Size / Yield

8-10 servings


  • 1 package lasagna noodles
  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 1 jar marinara sauce
  • 12 oz. cottage cheese
  • 1 tomato, chopped
  • ½ C. mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • ½ box mushrooms, sliced
  • ½ onion, chopped
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 2 Tbs. olive oil
  • 1 Tbs. italian seasoning

Prepare lasagna according to package
Drain and lay on a plate or flat surface and spray lightly with cooking spray
In a pan, heat oil and cook garlic for about 3-5 minutes, until lightly browned
Stir in mushrooms and onions and saute
Add seasoning and tomatoes and bring to a bubble
Reduce heat and add marinara sauce and stir until bubbling and set aside
In a separtate pan, cooking ground beef and season to taste, but keep it lightly seasoned because the sauce will be salty already
Grease a 9x13 casserole dish
Layer nooodles first, then add tomato mixture, meat, and cottage cheese
Repeat twice, reserving some sauce and cheese to top the lasagna
Cover loosely with foil and bake 20-30 minutes at 350 degrees F
Cool and cover, refrigerate for up to one day
