This is a spicy homemade topping you can make and store to use for your next meal. Add it to chicken, fist, steak, and just about anything you need to dress up a little with some heat!

Serving Size / Yield

10 servings


  • 1 C. brown sugar
  • 1 C. apple cider vinegar
  • 6 C. mangoes, peeled and chopped
  • 1 red onion, chopped
  • 1/2 C. raisins
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 Tbs. fresh ginger, minced
  • 3 Tbs. vegetable oil
  • 2 red bell peppers, chopped
  • 1 tsp. chile flakes

Heat the oil in a medium frying pan
Add the chile flakes and cook for one minute
Add the onions and cook until soft
Be very careful not to burn the chile, so keep stirring
Stir in the ginger and bell pepper
Saute for 2 minutes before adding the mango and cooking for an additional minute or two
Pour the vinegar and sugar into the pan and stir
Simmer for 30 minutes, stirring
Add the raisins and season with salt and pepper
Allow the chutney to cool and store in the fridge for up to two weeks
