  • 3/4 C sugar
  • 3/4 C shortening
  • 1/2 C natural maple syrup
  • 1 egg
  • 2 1/4 C flour
  • 1 1/4 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp ginger
  • 1/4 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp cloves
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • Sugar Dough Mix:
  • 2 Tbsp sugar
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon

Begin by beating together sugar, shortening, natural maple syrup, and egg into a mixing bowl.  Then start stirring in flour, baking soda, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, and salt.  Place dough in the refrigerator for about 30-45 minutes.  Then preheat oven to 350 degrees and grease cookie sheet.  

Remove dough from the refrigerator and roll into spoonful balls. In another small bowl mix together cinnamon and sugar mix.  Roll each dough ball in your cinnamon and sugar mix.  Place each dough ball on baking sheet and bake for about 10 minutes. Cool on rack and enjoy.
