Milk Chocolate Dipped Candied Apples

This is a true treat because the apples are first dipped in sugar to be candied and then they are dipped in chocolate and sprinkles for a finishing touch. Enjoy the entire apple whole or slice them up for apple pops.

Insert wooden sticks into the apples and lightly grease 2 cookie sheets. Mix the sugar, water, and corn syrup in a saucepan over medium-high heat. When the mixture reaches 300 degrees remove the pan from the heat and stir in the food coloring. Dip the apples in the sugar so the entire apple is coated. Set the apples on the baking sheet until they are set. Put the chocolate into a glass owl over a pan of simmering water and stir until the chocolate melts. Then remove the chocolate from the heat. Put the sprinkles in a shallow dish. Dip half of each apple into the chocolate and then roll in the sprinkles. Place the apples back on the baking sheet while the chocolate hardens.
