Try something a bit different than your typical bruschetta! These delicious little toasts are topped with simple mini meatballs and a roasted chili pepper for a bit of heat.

  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • ½ C. breadcrumbs
  • ½ onion, diced
  • ¼ C. milk
  • 1 egg
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • ¼ C. vegetable oil
  • Green chili peppers
  • French bread, sliced

Preheat oven to a broil. Place green chilies on a foil lined baking sheet and broil for 5 minutes on each side. Remove and let cool slightly. Peel off skins and set aside. In a bowl, combine ground beef, bread crumbs, onion, milk, egg, salt, Worcestershire, and pepper. Roll meatballs smaller than you usually would so they fit on your bread. In a large skillet, heat oil and cook meatballs until browned and cooked through, about 5 minutes. Brush sliced bread with olive oil and toast briefly under the broiler. Assemble snacks with meatballs and chili peppers.
