Moist Buttermilk Coffee Cake

- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 ½ C. white sugar
- 1 ½ tsp. baking powder
- ¾ tsp. baking soda
- ½ C. butter, room temperature
- 1 C. buttermilk
- 2 eggs
- ½ tsp. vanilla
Preheat oven to 350˚F.
Grease and flour a 9x13-inch baking dish.
Combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and baking soda in a large bowl.
Cut butter into dry ingredients until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Reserve about 1 C. crumb mixture.
Stir buttermilk, eggs, and vanilla extract into remaining crumbs until batter is just combined.
Pour batter into prepared baking dish.
Sprinkle reserved butter crumbs over batter.
Bake about 35 minutes in the preheated oven until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
