Moist Oyster Dressing

This oyster dressing recipe has a great taste and is always a hit! My father made it for years and I carry on the tradition of oyster dressing for Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners.

Ingredients

  • 1 C. butter
  • 1/2 C. onion, finely chopped
  • 1/2 C. chopped celery
  • 1/2 C. chopped parsley
  • 2 cans oysters
  • 8 C. breadcrumbs
  • 1 C. green pepper, finely chopped
  • 2 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. poultry seasoning
  • 1/4 tsp. mace
  • 2 Tbs. lemon juice

Directions

Put all ingredients in a large bowl, mix well (I use my hands). Use a little water to make the breadcrumbs soft. When all is mixed well, put into a baking pan or a large pie dish. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour. Test for doneness.
