This moist cake is light and delicious. The rich dulce de leche is soaked up by the cake making it melt-in-your-mouth good. Traditionally, the cake incorporate strawberries but once you taste this, you won’t be able to eat it any other way!

Ingredients

  • ¾ C. all-purpose flour
  • ½ C. granulated sugar
  • ¼ C. butter, room temperature
  • ¼ C. buttermilk
  • 2 eggs, whites
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • ½ tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1 C. buttercream frosting
  • Filling
  • ⅓ lb. strawberries, washed and chopped
  • 1 (13 oz.) cans dulce de leche

Directions

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Cream together the butter and sugar until it’s fluffy and add in the egg whites. Combine the dry ingredients in a separate bowl. Whisk the buttermilk and vanilla together in another bowl. Slowly add the flour mixture into the butter mix and add buttermilk. Pour the ½ the batter into a 9-in. circular baking dish. Pour the filling in (only using ½ can of the dulce de leche. Pour the rest of the batter on top. Bake the cake for about 15 minutes or until it’s fully cooked and crumbly. Let it cool and then ice the cake with the frosting. Chill the cake in the refrigerator until the cream is hardened. Pour the remaining dulce de leche on top and chill again for 15 minutes.
