  • 1 cup of fresh breadcrumbs
  • 8 slices of chopped bacon
  • 1/4 cup of chopped parsley
  • 3 cups of grated cheddar cheese
  • 1.5 cups of whole milk
  • ¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¾ teaspoon of dried mustard
  • 1 tablespoon of white flour
  • 1 finely chopped onion
  • ¾ pound of chopped mushrooms (wild mushrooms are best)
  • 4 tablespoons of butter
  • 1 pound or 4 cups of elbow macaroni (or rotini)

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Butter baking dish. Boil pasta according to package directions, but undercook slightly. 

Melt butter in a large pot and saute onions until transluscent.  Add salt, pepper, flour, and mustard. Add bacon and saute until crispy. Top with breadcrumbs. Bake the pasta for 30 minutes or until golden brown.
