Native American Fry Bread

If you are looking for something different to try and make... make this!

  • 2 C. all-purpose flour
  • 1 C. powdered milk
  • 1-1/2 Tbs. sugar
  • 1/4 C. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • About 1-1/2 C. warm water

Mix all dry ingredients in large bowl and mix. Add enough warm water to make sticky dough and let it stand for 10 minutes. Pull off about 1/2 C. of dough and place on a well-floured surface. Coat dough in flour and shape into desired size - about the size of a small saucer. Deep fry in hot oil until golden brown, then flip and fry other side. Place on paper towels to drain oil. Serve warm with butter or desired topping.

  • I really enjoyed this recipe... I even toasted them the next morning it toaster and ate them with butter and jam! The great thing is you can make them with things already on hand and then use you imaginaton and ad things to your likeing!
